Board of Directors

Rayonier’s Board of Directors oversees the company on behalf of shareholders and stakeholders. The board operates within the framework of our published Corporate Governance Principles and committee charters. We believe these documents reflect practical application of good governance. Rayonier is guided by what our board believes are the best practices for the company given its particular circumstances and challenges.

As it specifically relates to ESG, our initiatives and disclosures are overseen by the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board of Directors. We are in the process of building a long-term plan that incorporates internal audits of ESG-related data, and we consult with third-party subject matter experts on ESG matters as needed. In addition, we have an Enterprise Risk Management program led by senior managers and overseen by our Audit Committee through which we identify, evaluate and consider risks and corresponding mitigation strategies, including ESG risks.

Renewable Resources

Rayonier's renewable assets are part of the bigger role that forests play in maintaining the atmospheric balance necessary to support life.

  • Sun - Sunlight is a primary, renewable element that forests need to grow. In addition, trees use the sunlight to convert carbon dioxide, a harmful greenhouse gas, to oxygen – needed by all living things.

  • Rain - Rainwater is an essential element that forests need to grow. In addition, trees capture and filter the rainwater before it goes into the ground. The trees natural filtration and storage systems supply the overwhelming majority of our useable water.

  • Soil - Soil sequesters carbon and when properly managed can increase the growth of forests, which in-turn increase long-term carbon sequestration.

  • Trees - Forests generate oxygen, as well as sequester carbon from the atmosphere by storing it in trees and their roots below ground. Even after they have been harvested, trees continue to store carbon in products such as 电子货币交易软件homes, furniture, paper and 100’s of other products, thereby providing a long-term positive carbon impact.

  • Wildlife Habitat - Forests serve as 电子货币交易软件home to 70 percent of the world’s animals and plants.
